Lucky: A Poem of the Unashamed
How I lucky I was to be born
In such a glorious place
Where people are respected and honored
Each person given a space.
How lucky it is to be here
Understood in every regard
That women have the right to live
And should never ever be marred.
How lucky it is that I stand
On such a prosperous ground
That taking advantage of a woman
Is nothing to play around.
How unlucky it is that I’m here
Watching a world full of hate
And leaving such nasty impressions
On other countries that are oh so great.
How lucky it is that I found
Someone not looking to insult
The beauty of such a woman
Who could be devastated as a result.
How unlucky it is to know women
Been raped in a world just like this
This world should protect every person
A thought that we quickly dismiss
How unlucky the world has portrayed us
Women as the weaker of kind
Although technically we are much smarter
Many men do not know how to mind.
The luck that I see is not lucky
In fact luck is not the word at all
No one is ever so lucky
So women, get up unashamed and stand tall.
